Introduction Print

Creation of a new web site has several discrete steps

The process begins with a User Requirements phase, where specific needs of the presentation are outlined. We have created an interactive online form to aid in this process.

The next stage is a Web Site Proposal itself, which outlines a plan for development of a web site and includes specific pricing.

This may be followed by a Webmaster Service Plan, for complete support of the web site or for assistance for an in-house Webmaster.

Lastly, Add-on Features can be added to a completed web site. These features also have service options.

Good web site design is based on three specific areas:
  • Design
  • Technology
  • Content

It is the management of these three areas, and the relationships between them, that a truly functional web site can be created that also integrates directly with the daily activity of the company.

Design

Web site design must balance the needs of the message against the technological limitations imposed by the medium. Internet Horizon works with professional design firms or uses established formats to create effective web site designs. Design is critically important, to enhance the content without interfering with its significance.

Technology

The "inner workings" of a web site can be quite complex, although the presentation to the user should be clear and easy to understand. Technology can be used to display the message clearly, but should not be obvious or intrusive. The best web sites use advanced features carefully, and don't let them interfere with content.

Content

This is the most difficult element for an outside vendor to provide, although professional assistance is available in the form of writers and artists. Content is the message that the company will present. Content also needs to be updated on a regular basis, to keep the message vibrant and alive.
